Senior Engineer
• Responsible for providing information required to achieve scheme designs by demonstration via field trials
• Drive the field trials programme forwards to completion
• Provide guidance to other staff within the field trials team
• Liaise and update the lead engineer on the progress and direction of trials
• Undertake checking of scoping and specification documents produced by other team members
• Liaise with he EKFB field trials team by attending regular progress meetings (multiple weekly)
• Oversee the exchange and processing of data received from field trials
• Interact with the design optimisation team and look to incorporate some of their requirements Senior Engineers:
• perform a safety leadership role for the DJV and role model values of the DJV
• champion the preparation of designs that are safe and healthy.
• communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with the field trials workstream
• support the management of risk on the project by participating in inter-discipline reviews and close out review findings.
• support Lead Engineers in all relevant disciplines to ensure that DJV teams are kept abreast of changes in standards.
• liaises and updates the client field trial team on progress and proposals
• resolve technical issues.
• Will provide guidance and direction to the assistant engineers on how to develop field trial proposals
• Undertake checking of documentation composed as part of the field trial workstream before releasing to the geotechnical reviewer
• will keep abreast of best practices and industry standards on instrumentation and monitoring Senior Engineers:
• will exercise responsibilities in an ethical manner.
• are able to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality.
• can communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels, across the project organisation and externally with demonstrated ability to prepare project reports.
• have good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with people at all levels across the project organisation and externally.
• understand how to manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility. Including awareness of safety issues in an operating railway environment.
• are experienced at working with, people from varied discipline, backgrounds and cultures.
• must be a chartered engineer or geologist with a focus on geotechnics or engineering geology
• have experience in planning, supervising and designing elements of a project, with the ability of applying current standards and technical best practice
• should have a well-rounded geotechnical design experience with focus on earthworks, slope stability, piled foundations, laboratory testing and in-situ testing.
• should have experience in earthworks design, specification and implementation.
• should have understanding of the capabilities of GIS (Geographic information system)
• are required to have a working knowledge of HoleBASE SI
• require experience in the use of other routine geotechnical design programs such as VDISP/PDISP and REPUTE.
• should be fully familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
